Russian Museum Tour Description
You will be met at the hotel by your personal tour guide and driver. You will be given the driving "overview" tour of the city. During the St. Petersburg city tour, your driver will stop for photo making and to give you the opportunity to take short walks in the most picturesque and famous places of St. Petersburg. During the first hour you will visit the sites you will see from the outside only. Since many of the larger venues open later, this is the best use of your time. During the driving tour, you will be able to familiarize yourself with beautiful St. Petersburg, the "Venice of the North". Later in the morning your guide will take you to the tourist sites that have just begun to open for visitors.

Our first inside visit for the day will be the famous Russian Museum. This is not just another museum of antique relics. The Russian Museum in St. Petersburg is the home of the finest art by Russian artists. Here you will see famous works by Ivanov, Repin and other Russian masters.
LUNCH: We have included in the price, a lunch which has been chosen and prepared especially for our group. Clients are always impressed with the quality and taste of the meals they experience while visiting St. Petersburg.
After lunch we will visit the Kazan Cathedral. The Kazaan Cathedral was built in 1801-1811, to house the miracle-working Kazan icon of the Mother of God.
In 1811-1858, the Kazan Cathedral was the main cathedral of the city. After 1932, when the cathedral was closed, the building housed the Museum of the history of Religion and Atheism. In 1991, services have been resumed. Mass was held here 26 Nov. 1894,for the "just married" Tzar of Russia and his bride, Nicholas II and Alexandra.

pay their respect to the tomb of Nevsky. You, probably, will hear the soulful sounds of the deacons' choir. Finally a short stroll of the cemetery will allow you to see the tombs of Peter Tchaikovsky, Igor Stravinsky and Feodor Dostoevsky, among others.
After the visit to the Nevsky Monastery we will take time for dinner and offer our guests a driving / walking tour to see the Palace Square and the Hermitage, (outside only) , St Isaac's Cathedral (outside only), Mariinsky Theatre (outside only) and the famous Nevsky Prospect.

Few visitors to St. Petersburg realize that so many of the geniuses of music composition, literature and art have, as their final resting place, the cemetery at the Alexander Nevsky Monastery. During your visit you will see the beautiful sanctuary of the monastery. You will see how Russians pay their respect to the tomb of Nevsky. You, probably, will hear the soulful sounds of the deacons' choir. Finally a short stroll of the cemetery will allow you to see the tombs of Peter Tchaikovsky, Igor Stravinsky and Fedor Dostoevsky among others.
If you have had the opportunity to read either of two highly recommended books on Russian culture, Natasha's Dance or The Pearl, you will want to see the tombs of Nicholas Sheremetev and his wife Proskovia.
